WARM

find warm.

come into being by you

the breath of your life into existence

and then you gather it up in a sigh.

deep into your wells.

dive my scalp into the sea

feel it radiate, permeate,

massage my skull and stroke behind my ears

the trueness of yes, touch.

your fingers hold my jaw.

find me.

i will go up the mountain with you

legs strong and steady

toned and bruisy from relentless dance,

running into your farthest singularity,

waves of light and sound, your ocean,

finding such a parabolic trace

the canvas of it all,

a falling flying that stretches infinitely

no gravity, no fear,

only wild.

closer than know.

feel.

INNERMOST BEING

where to put my eyes?

if everything i see is you.

gentle sketches on the page,

forms of a pair of mountain dwellers

snowed into a log cabin today

surrounding me with arms tomorrow

hover hold my shoulders, my middle back

on a red carpet

a golden texture on the air

remember the sharp espresso in the white mornings?

now it's hushed loud night in dallas,

and a trinity at the center of the frame.

gold and gold and cascading red.

LOWWAYS

all that we've been through.

and aching, cling to you

no divide in your eyes.

find me finding your love

as you make the lowways high and the highways low

beholding as in a mirror.

locked with mine.

I am, you say,

easier to belong than to beloved.

you know.

turn your eyes from me -

but wash not just my feet, but my head and hands, too.

the african holds a heart in a jar

and before the congregation, behold

"you don't know what this is."

the organ with its own memory, its own nervous system,

its own knowing of you.

absorb me.

asleep i say

tossing like the tide

that all i want, all i've ever wanted,

is you.

FEATHER WEATHER

it's not every night i get a handle on this world

my hair marks the days

i stow away a hard drive and gentle, yes, pulse

a prayer throbbing in my left breast

nod at the world, we see her,

speaking words, we see you.

perhaps another novelist's words are the frequency.

rising tune in the swirling of my seas

a harried braid wild from the days

smile on a postcard and pray.

stir the ocean and we walk there.

you're my evergreen

purest myrrh to still the seas

catch me.
